....I don't get people who do it..why bother doing on such a small scale....
I'd do it on a much bigger scale, like G.W. Bush does.

Not a very good analogy. Bush is more like the idiot newbie who doesn't know what the hell he's doing, but is still utterly full of himself, despite being the reason a party wipes.

Wasn't made fun of for years or bullied in school (always had friends). My relationship with my parents is better than most.. I don't have Bipolar either. Depression maybe, but that wouldn't make me attack others.
I should also say that I don't really target certain people and make fun of them, or mess up parties..I usually go to a town and say I don't like Guild Wars then start a fight with everyone who takes me seriously. Or go to a town and type in all caps, just being annoying in general to see what people say. But I don't make a habit out of it. So maybe I'm a lesser jerk.

I thiink the depression you suffer from affects your life more than you know and should seek help from a professional, I bet if you were not depressed at all you would not do the things you do to people. as my posts state your depressed and want everyone to feel as bad as you.

The ones doing it in my opinion fall into category of coward. Hiding behind a keyboard or a law that keeps physically larger males from beating them to death while they act like an asshat screams pathetic. That's not evil that is cowardice in it's purest form.
Evil doesn't heckle or play video games .. evil pulls wings off a fly to watch it struggle or pushes puppies under water to watch the spasms when death happens.
Wannabe Ethug isn't evil ... it is the kid that loses his lunch money OFTEN.

Um I don't try to make other people feel bad, I just talk bad about Guild Wars because I really dislike the way it is now and I rarely do that in game because that would require me to log on just to do that which is really kind of silly (hence I only do it when I'm already logged on after reading these forums usually.. people who suck up to anet and think this game is great now just really piss me off!). So when that happens I usually just troll a bit. I'm also quite a happy person most of the time.

I just really do not like you guys that's about it and it also depends on my mood, for the most part I'm a nice guy. For the most part I only go on Guild Wars to do that after I read threads here with people who are kissy kissy with Guild Wars and think it's a great game now.

Why is it fun? You don't have any self respect?
I guess I grew up in the wrong era also. I can't imagine being crude, rude and generally an unsavory person for kicks. I need to live with myself and would rather not have my conscience bugging me about my actions.
Maybe some people don't have a conscience anymore

But teasing people is just so much....fun. The only reason why I don't do it here is that it gives the mods headaches. If people can't take a joke anymore where's the fun in life? I do this irl too, not just on the internet. irl it's easier to see what is still funny and what crosses that thin line.
I'm often on the receiving end too, I personally don't give a **** when it's all in good fun.

It's fun because I like to see people taking something so seriously, when I'm not being serious about it. During Halloween I said something about Guild Wars being boring now and started a ruckus in LA, with about 5-6 people trying to bash on me and I was just laughing because they were taking me so seriously. Also I was writing what people were saying, "mocking" if you will, with a 12 year old AOL translator thing that my friend showed me on the internet and people were getting so upset about it.

Being an ass online is both funny and annoying.
The ones who shout the loudest are more then likely the ones that get shoved into a locker everyday.

Bad parenting on both sides. Not teaching children how to behave in an acceptable standard on one side, and on the other, not teaching them how to deal with real shit in life. Of course, if you can't even do the latter yourself, how can you teach lil' Johnny/Sally?
And while I don't care for griefers, I really can't stand those that choose not to do anything about it or let themselves be negatively affected, much less let their children go unprepared to handle those types of situations.

No you are not a nice guy you are an ass and prove quite often. As to the OP, anonymity = stupidity to many people and that is a sad thing.

its the internet and as has been said a FREE (after buying the initial game) for life on the internet.
The internet is a strange place where many believe they dont have to be civil to anyone, its anonymous so many believe they can get away with being cruel and hateful.
(its also strange that there are many people in the world that cant see the difference between games and the real world, but thats another 50gallon can of worms).
and OP I understand (41 here and have nephews/nieces old enough to get married!)

It mustn't be stupidity when I'm benefiting from it by getting entertainment. As far as I'm concerned I can be an ass and uncivil and just a not fun to be around guy on the internet all I want simply because it's another world apart from the real one. I'm less of an ass than a lot of people as I don't do more than talk in cities and I've done that 3 or 4 times (in a negative manner) this year.
Usually I start it because I"m upset at something and once I cool down (happens quickly) everything usually just dies down unless I got a few people lashing out at me then I just laugh at them and make them do it more.
I'm not this way in real life because I don't hold such a disrespect for most people, and if I'm in a bad mood I generally keep it to myself. On the internet, people are nothing more than entertainment visages to me, unless I become friends with that person, at which point I'll treat them with more respect...granted this is only when I'm in a bad mood..in a good mood I won't bother anyone and I'm generally nice. Just when I'm an ass don't take what I say too seriously.
Now I'm sure this doesn't help the OP as the people that are offensive or griefers/scammers and generally just bad people all around are more bothered than I am. All I'm bothered by is a bad mood, and maybe some sleep deprivation.

I think sometimes people do stuff like that because they're bored or they don't feel good (not physically, I mean emotionally mostly). Then there are those who just generally take pleasure out of other peoples' misery.

I would guess it is mostly just an age+emotional thing. I did something like that back when I first got on the internet (early 90's - so it was mostly troll Usenet of harass people on IRC). I did it when I was bored or unhappy, no real reason I guess. If I had been younger I may (or may not) have done it more.
I can't say I was exactly the type of person you are talking about - that type of interactivity wasn't really around then for me to even become that way. I can't say I got as angry as many trolls/greifers do when you call them out on it (what could I say? - Yes, I'm being an ass) and it was a somewhat rare thing. I can't understand how so many people spend so much time at it, they must be *really* unhappy people.
Overall I agree with the graphic already posted, though I would generally add "immaturity" and "boredom" in there. Get rid of any one of those things and you would see it drop tremendously.
